Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

VOA News - Bush, Congress in Conflict Over US Ports Management Deal

I'm upset and totally drained by his insensitivity when i think about it. I mean, I don't even want to be writing this because he is just taking more of my energy. I can't believe that he is sitting there asking people why the United Arabs are being held to a different standard than the British based company it is replacing in managing six U.S. ports. He is so insensitive, its not even funny! All these Americans being dragged through the psychological mess that is George Bush. First the bombing, then the wars and now he is asking us why we don't want an arab based company in charge of running our major shipping ports? After our government has proven over and over again that it is basically not prepared to protect this nation from terrorism or any kind of natural disaster or whatever. The government isn't thinking of us, the government is thinking about money and that's it. Our well being and protection is now just a item in the list of what is or is not cost effective. We are a monster. This country is setting itself up for doom.

BUSH = BULL IN THE FOREIGN RELATIONS SHOP!

can we take a stand?

The President is doing illegal stuff right in front of our noses. We think "I don't hear anything too extreme about it in the news, so it must not be that bad" or "If it really was that bad, the news would have a field day with it" or "democrats would be more up in arms than they are if it was a really big deal." Our government has all these institutions strong armed. The owners of all the media companies are in the government's pockets. The democrats can't say shit in fear that they or their friends or supporters will be affected by the RICH powerplay going out from the oval office. The mainstream's hands are tied. My question: can america rely on the integrity of the people to get them through a manipulative crisis such as this? Can people see that the machine is not going to necessarily serve in their best interest and that there may come a time, such as now, where a taking a strong personal stand is in order, media spectacle or not. Can the U.S. take a stand against something without its security blanket telling it is ok to do so?

Raindrops on Roses

Yesterday I was at Target getting last minute Christmas gifts, and I just left there feeling so gross! I couldn't help but see myself partaking in some kind of weird sociological burp. Christmas has become something like how much stuff can you get, and what was your best gift... It really makes me wanna reassess this holiday as an adult. I don't wanna play this game of pass around the shit in the boxes and get happy! What happened to the spirit behind the holiday...monk-out people!

Bush: Constitution=God Damned Piece Of Paper

Bush is trying to renew the Patriot Act. This piece of shit act has made us lose:
our freedom of association (the gov can monitor us now), freedom from unreasonable searches (we can be searched and our stuff seized at any moment without probably cause and without warrant), loss of speedy public trial (we can be jailed indefinitely without being charged of a crime), loss of legal representation (we can be denied legal representation) all in the name of fighting terror. So, Bush is "protecting" us by taking away our constitutional rights and agitating the threat of terror with a bull-in-chinashop international relations? Can someone please hold this corporate monster responsible for his actions? I mean he is not a corporation, but he is serving everything to the machine, giving all our money, our security, our freedom, our natural resources, EVERYTHING to the machine. HE'S FUCKING BRAINWASHED BY THIS EVIL AGENDA! He really thinks what he is doing is right. I can't believe that he said that the Constitution is a God Damned piece of paper?!! Somebody STOP HIM PLEASE! Somebody do SOMETHING!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exerpt from article (link):

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the (patriot) act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”

Bush The Very Rich AntiChrist

All the countries in Canada working hard right now on passing a worldwide climate control agreement are worried that President Bush will keep this from moving forward in a meaningful way. In fact, Stephen Byers, who heads the International Climate Change Taskforce has said that the Bush administration has made it clear that the U.S. will not be making any commitments on climate change. He then goes on to say that "President Bush must not be allowed to block the rest of the world moving forwards in a meaningful way." The talks were going really well, but rich countries are refusing to commit to addressing climate change and development. This is causing the talks to sour and setting forth that generations are being condemned, especially in the poorest nations because of rich mother fuckers who don't give a shit about anything except their narcistic little bubble.

Speaking of, yesterday more tax cuts for rich investors were being passed. And yet, somehow tax breaks for the average home owning Americans are being taken away?! What do we think is going on here? Are we paying for the rich to be richer?
